Get off the doggie's tail. 直譯過(guò)來(lái)就是：“放過(guò)狗尾巴”，顯然不能這樣望文生義，這個(gè)句子的正確意思是：“得饒人處且饒人，放別人一馬”。因此，當(dāng)美國(guó)人說(shuō)"Get off the doggie's tail."時(shí)，他/她要表達(dá)的意思就是:"Let him off."、"Let's forgive him if possible."、"Let's be lenient whenever it is possible."。
